Dear DSS Managers,
As you may recall, 360 assessment is an important part of the Programme to help you develop yourselves as leaders, followed by individual coaching sessions. Failure to complete these exercises on time, you will not be able to receive the final certification of completion.
During the 360 assessment, you will need to complete a self-evaluation survey, and your supervisors, direct reports, peers and external partners will also complete the same survey to help you understand your strengths and weakness as leaders.
In the rest of October, we will complete this process. To ensure confidentiality, an independent company will handle the entire 360 process, and you will receive emails from them starting from tomorrow with email address as"noreply@leadernation.com". Please also check your junk folder in order not to miss the messages. Once you receive it, please complete it ASAP.
Who will you invite as raters?
You will need to select the people who will provide feedback to you. The people that you select should include:
1) In Country DO (non-anonymous)
2) HQ Supervisor (non-anonymous)
3) Direct Reports (minimum 3)
4) DSS Peers (minimum 3)
5) UN Agency Peers (minimum 3)
6) External partners (national and/or international, minimum 3)
When should you invite them?
ASAP. Please have a list of people and their email addresses ready, and register them in the link that you will receive from leadernation tomorrow, Friday 7 October. When you put their email addresses in the leadernation system, PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE SPELLINGS to avoid mistakes!!
What will you tell your raters?
Then, you may want to email your raters and inform them that they are expected to receive an email from noreply@leadernation.com. To save you time, the following message is a template for you to copy paste.
Subject: Giving Me Feedback
Dear __________
I am currently participating in the DSS Executive Management Programme and would like to invite you to complete a 360 degree feedback survey about my leadership abilities. You’ll get an electronic invitation from noreply@leadernation.com with a link, but below are four tips for your consideration as you provide me with feedback via survey. The deadline for survey-completion is Friday, 21 October. The survey will take you about 15-20 minutes to complete.
Only I, and my coach, will have access to the feedback I receive, so please be honest and speak freely. Your name will not be associated with your input unless you are part of a non-anonymous group like my direct manager. I’m available if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.

Tips:
(1) Avoid common biases such as the “halo”, “horn”, or “central tendency.” Often raters give all high marks, all low marks, or all marks in the middle. To help me truly grow, provide feedback that acknowledges my strengths and also addresses areas for growth, wherever they may be.
(2) Avoid generalities and add “behavioral” details. For example, instead of writing “He is a good communicator,” add some details: “He is a good communicator both verbally and with the written word. He takes time to make sure others really understand the message he is conveying.”
(3) Use examples and write specific, actionable comments. For example, instead of writing “You don’t value my opinion,” minimize judgment and add specifics: “When making and communicating the strategy, you never asked for my input. I had valuable input I never got to share.” Giving behaviorally specific comments will more likely lead to behavior change.
(4) Don’t forget positive reinforcement. Often we fixate on weaknesses, but positive reinforcement is as important, if not more important, as feedback on areas for development.

1. You will receive an email from noreply@leadernation.com tomorrow.
2. You will need to input your raters’ emails into the system tomorrow Friday, 7 October.
3. You will send an email to all your raters with template above.
4. Survey completion deadline for all raters is Friday, 21 October.
